Help Yolobus Bring Joy to Tots Throughout Yolo County 12.03.12 10:56 am
As more families have less to spend at Christmas, now more than ever the Toys for Tots program needs our help. Yolo County Transportation District (YCTD)/Yolobus has set a goal this season to support Toys for Tots by filling two 50-gallon barrels with new, unwrapped toys. Anyone can stop by YCTD’s office at 350 Industrial Way in Woodland and donate a new toy, large or small. Everyone donating a new toy will receive a Yolobus prize. The YCTD office is open Monday through Friday 8:00 AM until 5:00 PM excluding holidays. All donations need to arrive by 5:00 PM Tuesday, December 18th.
The objective of Toys for Tots is to help needy children throughout the United States experience the joy of Christmas; to play an active role in the development of one of our nation’s most valuable resources – our children; to unite all members of local communities in a common cause; and to contribute to better communities in the future. Since 1947, the United States Marine Corps have collected and distributed toys to needy children in the United States, Puerto Rico and American Samoa. In 2011, the Marine Corps Toy for tots program distributed 15.6 million new toys to 7.2 million underprivileged children across the country. While the Marine Corps coordinates and manages Toys for Tots, the program’s success depends on the support of the local community and the generosity of people who donate toys, and that’s why YCTD and Yolobus have joined this cause.
YCTD and Yolobus appreciate your support of this very worthwhile charity.
